On the job

What working in care actually involves

Home care is skilled, human work. A typical day is a sequence of visits — each one a person's own home, preferences, and plan.

Arrive prepared

You know the care plan, the person's preferences, and what good looks like before you knock.

Support with dignity

Personal care, meals, medication prompts where authorised, companionship — always at the person's pace.

Record and escalate

Clear notes, timely handovers, and the confidence to raise concerns without delay.

Travel with purpose

Local rounds where the role requires it — realistic travel and continuity, not endless scatter.

Culture & values

What we recruit for.

Interviews are built around these values — not just a checklist of tasks.

Dignity

Everyone is treated as a person first. Independence is protected, not managed away.

Compassion

Kindness that shows up in practical ways, on ordinary days, not just difficult ones.

Respect

Someone's home is their own. We work to their preferences, at their pace.

Person-centred

Care plans fit the person, not the rota. We listen first and adapt as needs change.

Recruitment journey

Clear steps. No surprises.

  1. Step 1

    Apply

    About 15–20 minutes

Your details, availability, experience, values answers, eligibility, and optional CV.

  2. Step 2

    We review

    Our recruitment team

We read every application against what the role needs. You will hear from us either way.

  3. Step 3

    A conversation

    In person or by phone

An informal, values-based conversation — real situations, not traps.

  4. Step 4

    Conditional offer

    Subject to checks

If it is a good fit, we make an offer conditional on pre-employment checks.

  5. Step 5

    Pre-employment checks

    The same for everyone

Identity, history, references, right to work, and a DBS check at the level set for the role.

  6. Step 6

    Induction

    Before you work alone

Structured induction and time alongside colleagues before you take a round on your own.

Safer recruitment

The people we support deserve to know who is coming through the door.

We check carefully, and we treat every candidate the same way.

  • We verify identity and employment history for everyone we appoint.
  • We take up references — and never contact a referee without your permission.
  • Each vacancy states the DBS level required for that specific role.
  • Right to work is confirmed for everyone — documents are requested later in the process, not on the initial application.

Safeguarding answers on the public form are limited and stored separately. Identity and right-to-work documents are requested later by the recruitment team.

FAQs

Questions candidates actually ask.

Not always. Many care assistant roles welcome career-changers who bring reliability, compassion, and a willingness to train. Each vacancy sets out what is essential.

We do whatever it takes to bring you peace of mind
